HRV Engineering has developed, over the years, a tremendous amount of experience and expertise in the field of construction management.  We have played a leading role in many of Iceland's largest construction projects including, aluminum smelters, geothermal and hydroelectric power plants, high-voltage power transmission lines and towers, shopping malls, harbors and much more.  We have worked extensively with public agencies such as Landsvirkjun, The National Power Company of Iceland, the City of Reykjavik, The Reykjavik Power Company, and numerous other cities around the country.

The larger a project, the greater the need for the developer to closely monitor that work is being carried out in accordance with the specifications and standards laid out in the tender.  As most construction and engineering projects usually involve large investments, hiring a team of objective outside professionals to handle inspections is often a more economical and secure option for the buyer.  As a result, the majority of developers, large and small, choose to engage outside inspectors.

HRV Engineering has years of experience at the cutting edge of construction management and engineering technology.  We offer our clients the complete portfolio of services coupled with a multi-disciplinary team of experienced professionals capable of handling all aspects of construction management, including:

Safety Management
The legal systems of most countries today require a contractor to appoint a safety and health coordinating officer at any construction site where more than one employer or contractor is at work.

In addition, the developer is also required to ensure that a safety and health plan is prepared before a construction site is planned. This applies where two or more building employers or contractors will be working simultaneously at the same site, if the total number of workers is more than ten or, if the activities being undertaken are hazardous.  HRV Engineering has the experience and expertise to implement, operate and maintain safety and health plans for developments of all types and sizes, including:

  • Preparing a safety and health plan based on site conditions, which stipulate specific measures to be taken with regard to potentially hazardous activities
  • Producing a report on safety and health requirements covering every phase of a project, and coordinating the appropriate preventative and safety measures
  • Managing tasks and activities to ensure the safety of everyone working on a site at any given time.
  • Ensuring that working practices comply with the health and safety plan
  • Implementing any necessary modifications to the safety and health plan
  • Disseminating information and managing cooperation among contractors
  • Ensuring that site access is limited to employees and other authorized personnel
