HRV Engineering is one of the leading project management and consulting engineering companies within the primary aluminum production sector. We have provided project management, construction management, EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, Construction Management) and engineering design services to some of the most recent primary aluminum smelter projects in the aluminum industry. By the year 2007, we will have added some 700,000 tpy of primary aluminum production capacity to the world market. And, there's more to come.
Our role in the development of these projects is not limited to project management and engineering design. We have also provided environmental impact assessments (EIA) and environmental monitoring, geotechnical engineering and geology as well as concrete research and testing in our own state-of-the-art facility.
We have played a leading role in each of Iceland's three aluminium smelter plants, These projects have been carried out on behalf of Alcan, Alcoa, Bechtel and Century Aluminum:
Noršurįl Aluminum Reduction Plant (Nordic Aluminum), Grundartangi, Iceland 1995 - ongoing
Currently, HRV Engineering is responsible for engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) for the expansion of the Nordural Aluminum Reduction Plant from 90,000 tpy to 220,000 tpy, due for completion in 2006. Estimated total project value, $500,000,000 USD. Our past participation included planning and preparatory work relating to the construction of the original 60,000 tpy plant, environmental impact assessments, final design and construction supervision in collaboration with other consultants. Following this, HRV Engineering was responsible for the preparations, final design and construction management of an extension of the plant to its current capacity of 90,000 tpy.
Fjaršaįl Aluminum Reduction Plant (Alcoa), Reyšarfjöršur, Iceland 2002 - ongoing
HRV is currently involved in a broad spectrum of operations relating to the planning, design and construction of this 320,000 tpy facility, due for completion in 2007. Our involvement includes, project management, site studies, harbor studies and cost studies as well as, geotechnical engineering, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering design, environmental impact assessment reports (EIA) and monitoring. Estimated total project value, over 1 billion USD. This project is being coordinated with the development of the 750 MW Kįrahnjśkar Hydroelectric Power Plant and a new harbour in Reyšarfjöršur. Seperate EIA's were submitted for each of these projects.
ĶSAL Icelandic Aluminum Reduction Plant (Alcan), Straumsvķk, Iceland 1995 - 1997
HRV's involvement included a feasibility survey, comparison of alternatives, environmental impact assessment, design of a new wharf, potroom and various other facilities due to the expansion of the plant from a capacity of 100,000 to 160,000 tpy.
HRV Engineering is uniquely poised to handle your next project, whether it be a new aluminum smelter, the expansion of an existing plant or any other large scale project.
