HRV Engineering´s holding companies have played a major role in the development of Iceland's infrastructure, public utilities and waterworks, including road and highway networks, geothermal heating networks, potable water, sewage systems, bridges, tunnels, airports and harbors.
Over the years we have enjoyed excellent long term relationships with numerous public entities such as the City of Reykjavík, the Public Roads Administration, the National Power Company (Landsvirkjun) and other local authorities around the country.
Road and Street Design
HRV has been closely involved in the comprehensive design of roads, streets and highways including traffic structures and utilities at locations all around Iceland. Highway design, street reconstruction design and re-planning have formed a major part of the services offered to the City of Reykjavík, as well as to other communities. Recent projects HRV has worked on are e.g. the Reykjanesbraut Highway as well as the preparation and design of several of Iceland's major road tunnel projects, including Fáskrúðsfjarðargöng, Héðinsfjarðargöng, Almannaskarðsgöng and Vaðlaheiðargöng.
Other infrastructure projects
Services include site planning, transportation systems planning, bridge building and bridge design as well as airport design, including studies of obstacle contours in order to determine whether any landscapes or structures interfere with air transport in the site vicinity. HRV participated also closely in the construction design of a new wharf at the Rio Tinto Alcan Smelter Plant at Straumsvík, the harbor for the Alcoa´s Fjarðaál Plant at Reyðarfjörður.
